The Oregon Forest Pest Detector (OFPD) program is offered by Oregon State University Extension Service and is free of cost. OFPD trains natural resource professionals (e.g. arborists, parks and recreation technicians, lawn care providers, etc.) how to identify and report high-priority invasive forest pests in Oregon. The pests covered in the course are not yet in Oregon, but could potentially cause significant damage to urban and natural forests in a short period of time if introduced. Oregon needs trained eyes on the ground to increase our chance of early detection and rapid response.
In spring 2017, there will be trainings in Corvallis, Milwaukie, and Portland, Oregon.
We offer ISA recertification credits, as well as ODA pesticide applicator and a variety of other CEUs. We are also open to arranging private trainings for utility arborist companies, if requested.
You can learn more about the program and register for a training by visiting the OFPD website.
You can also contact the OFPD coordinator with any questions.
