     Highlights

    Requires 5+ yrs exp in Right-Of-Way and Contract Management in Tree Care Service industry, HS Diploma/GED. College degree in construction, forestry, engineering preferred. Overnight travel required. Certified Arborist, Utility, Forestry, R.O.W. This role/person will be based in Beckley, WV and support WV, VA, NC, SC.  Relocation assistance available for qualified person.    

    Summary

    This person will be completely immersed into new utility clients and the ITS crews interacting with them daily.  The Utility Forestry Project Manager is responsible for representing the company with clients and consultants on virtually any range of subjects related to tree production and for making decisions supporting the company; opportunities and concerns will be brought to the project manager’s up-line for discussion. The overall responsibilities of a Utility Forestry Project Manager can be generalized into the four distinct but interrelated categories of: Client Relations, Labor, Equipment, and Compliance.

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    • Utility Specialist Certified Arborist or ability to obtain within one year
    • Requires CDL A endorsement
    • Requires Pesticide Applicator Certification in all states serviced
    • 5 years Experience working in Right-Of-Way and Contract Management within Tree Care Service / Forestry / Utility  industry.
    • Tree Trimming and Removal Experience.
    • Tree Care Service or Forestry Heavy Equipment Operations Experience.
    • Ability to maintain a flowchart of operations and administration of jobs by using supporting personnel and their own skill set in order to maintain a stable platform to build new business on while assisting with multiple jobs in progress.  
    • High ability to multitask mentally.  
    • High degree of self-organizational skills as there are many items where they will be assisting simultaneously. 
    • Ability to master the art of land owner relations
    • Should be completely proficient with Microsoft Office and desktop products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Technologically able to interact with software, data and terminology at a high level both in the office and from remote locations
    • Bachelor’s degree in construction science/construction management, forestry, engineering or related is preferred.
    • Minimum of high school diploma with progressive industry experience and training is required.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    Directly supervises multiple General Foreman and employees involved in each project. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Work Environment

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. 

    Physical Demands

    Must be able to climb in and out of vehicles to arrive at job site locations and navigate rough terrain in a forested setting, and withstand the unpredictable outdoor environment in all seasons. Must be able to work at various heights and on uneven and slippery surfaces performing mentally/physically demanding work under unfavorable weather conditions while handling equipment or material.  Must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position which will typically involve 50+ hours a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call early/late hours to deal with delays, bad weather and emergencies at the job site.

    Travel

    The Project Manager will have frequent overnight travel, up to five days each week.

    Responsibilities: 

    • Ensure Consulting Utility Foresters (CUF's) produce quality work plans based on the utilities Planning Specifications
    • Ensure CUF's/Auditors meet monthly production targets as determined by the utility
    • Assist and resolve customer/member complaints, refusals, no contacts, and access issues as they relate to utility's vegetation management program
    • Attend all scheduled meetings as directed by the utility
    • Resolve all contractor damage claims
    • Ensure timely and accurate time sheets and invoices are provided to the utility
    • Monitor and coordinate all contractor employee time off requests with the utility
    • Investigate and address all contractor accidents, incidents, and property damage within 48 hours of occurrence
    • Coordinate contractor activities whenever the utility activates its "Emergency Preparedness Plan"
    • From time-to-time the utility may deem it necessary to require work assignments that are within the supervisor's capabilities but outside the position of the supervisor. This may include but is not limited to planning/auditing work plans or other duties as assigned. 
    • Perform other related duties as required or assigned

    Requirements:

    • Work schedule consisting of a minimum of 40 hours per week between the hours of 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. 
    • Full-time presence on the utilities property 
    • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in management or leadership position
    • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the utility line clearance industry
    • Must be a Certified Arborist
    • Must possess a valid Pesticide Applicators License or able to obtain wtihin twelve (12) months of hire
    • English is the primary language and the ability to speak Spanish is desirable
    • Must be proficient communicator with the ability to resolve member complaints, employee issues, and concerns
    • Proficiency in the operation of personal computers and tablets
    • Proficient and skilled in MS Office Products with emphasis in Outlook, Excel, & Word
    • Must be proficient in the use of the utilities software within three (3) months of hire
    • Must be able to train and educate newly hired CUF's in the use of the utilities vegetation management software

    Great position out of the Salt Lake City, UT area.  Full-time long-term, good pay, independent opportunity.  Great skiing, low traffic, clean air. 

     Description of Duties:

     ·         Inspect completed tree and brush work on distribution and transmission powerlines in northern Utah, eastern Idaho and sometimes Wyoming.   

     ·         Verify work completed, safety, compliance with regulations and specifications, and quality of work. 

     ·         Utilize laptop computer with ArcPad 10 and GPS to collect data.

     ·         Good tree identification and public relations skills are essential. 

     ·         Must be able to walk in difficult terrain and operate a 4x4 vehicle. 

     ·         Must have excellent communications skills to deal with the public, tree crews, and utility foresters.

     ·         Must have or attain ISA Certified Arborist certification as soon as possible.

     Assignment Duration:  Full-Time  

     Education/Work Experience:  BS or AS in forestry, horticulture, or other natural resource field, or, a Certified Arborist with at least 2 years of utility auditing and/or utility vegetation management program experience.   Must be motivated, ambitious, and detail oriented.

     Responsibilities:

    • Lead team member of the Risk Department charged with root cause investigation, insurance submission, negotiation and resolution of workers’ compensation, general liability and automobile liability claims.
    • Negotiates claims settlement for different types of claims made against the company.
    • Works closely with the other Risk Department members to ensure development and compliance of the company Safety, Education and Training Programs.
    • Takes a leadership role in operations communication regarding claims and necessary training relating to claims history.
    • Conducts field audit of employees and equipment to ensure proper training of all safety policies and work procedures to support a culture of safe work within all Wright Service Corp family of companies.
    • Works closely with safety personnel and other management members responsible for the development and compliance of the company Safety Programs.
    • Ensures the family of companies are in compliance with OSHA and DOT Regulations and applicable ANSI Standards.
    • Ability to accurately and fairly evaluate employees on all written safety manuals and materials, including but not limited to the Foreman’s Manual and Employee Handbook.
    • Stays engaged with workforce by making regular crew visits usually with safety personnel.
    • Sets a good example and promotes the Wright Service Corp. safety culture.
    • Speaks at industry gatherings and with utility customers.
    • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

     Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education.
    • Minimum of three years’ experience in adjusting insurance claims in either Workers’ Compensation or General Liability or Automobile Liability.
    • Possess above average claims investigation skills.
    • Certification in a recognized insurance program such as CPCU or Claims Law Associate or documented work toward the designation.
    • Solid understanding of Contract Law.
    • Ability to obtain TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional (CTSP).
    • Participation in industry organizations and governing bodies relating to vegetation management.
    • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications, interpersonal skills as well as strong presentation skills.
    • Advanced analytical skills.
    • General Understanding of Accounting Principles and Financial Analysis.
    • Prior familiarity with OSHA Standards in order to enforce compliance is a plus.
    • Prior knowledge of DOT Regulations in order to enforce compliance is a plus.

    Responsibilities:

    • Contact property owners and/or public agencies regarding access, pruning, and damage claims
    • Conduct tree and brush inventories

    • Assess and measure crop damage for damage claims
    • Survey and check distances of existing structure hubs for new poles/structures
    • Conduct tree contractor work planning

    • Help enforce on-the-job safety practices
    • Carry and utilize materials, tools, and equipment at work site

    Requirements:
