    What you’ll do:

    ·   Contribute to all aspects of vegetation management planning, succeed and celebrate.

    ·   Utilize the latest technology and practices to help major electric utility providers deliver safe and reliable power.

    ·   Inspect and assess vegetation in the right-of-ways for compliance standards and construction work plans.

    ·   Identify tree and brush control work and protection zone recommendations.

    ·   Document work using hand-held computer; Assess terrain, Habitat, and Environmental conditions, Creation of IVM projects.

    ·   Coordinate with Project Managers, Planners, and Vegetation Crews to create customized solutions.

    What you’ll need:

    ·   Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather; ability to read and follow maps; ability to work independently.

    ·   Leadership experience and a desire for career growth will be given a priority.

    ·   Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation.

    ·   Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    ·   Availability and desire to travel throughout the utility service area.

    ·   Clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle.

    ·   Two or Four year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture or related discipline; ISA Utility Specialist; Qualified Applicators License (QAL), Pest Control Advisor (PCA), Registered Professional Forester (RPF), Utility Right-of-Way Vegetation experience are preferred.

    ·   Ability to identify local tree species & growth rates.

    ·   Organizational skills; working knowledge of computers and programs, file creation, manipulation and sharing.

    ·   Inspect and assess vegetation in the right-of-ways for compliance standards and construction work plans.

    ·   Identify tree and brush control work and protection zone recommendations.

    ·   Document work using hand-held computer; Assess terrain, Habitat, and Environmental conditions, Creation of IVM projects.

    ·   Coordinate with Project Managers, Planners, and Vegetation Crews to create customized solutions.

    What you’ll need:

    ·   Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather; ability to read and follow maps; ability to work independently.

    ·   Leadership experience and a desire for career growth will be given a priority.

    ·   Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation.

    ·   Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    ·   Availability and desire to travel throughout the utility service area.

    ·   Clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle.

    ·   Two or Four year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture or related discipline; ISA Utility Specialist; Qualified Applicators License (QAL), Pest Control Advisor (PCA), Registered Professional Forester (RPF), Utility Right-of-Way Vegetation experience are preferred.

    ·   Ability to identify local tree species & growth rates.

    ·   Organizational skills; working knowledge of computers and programs, file creation, manipulation and sharing.

    As an Apprentice Arborist, you will work alongside an experienced Arborist to aid in performing a variety of forestry tasks to learn and master the Arborist trade.  You will assist in the timely completion of tree maintenance and tree removal contracts and will be taught to operate safely a variety tools and equipment required to complete tree services.

    • Learn and perform job duties using safe work practices ensuring proper quality of work
    • Learn and perform tree maintenance and/or tree removal by climbing or by safe forestry bucket operations
    • In collaboration with crew on site, review scope of work and safety issues with the crew prior to beginning each work assignment and report any safety hazards in the JHA 
    • Conduct tree risks assessments prior to working on trees
    • Learn to perform required tree work from ground level, climbing or by safe forestry bucket operations for residential, commercial or utility customers
    • Learn and perform pruning, stumping and required clean up
    • Learn and perform large tree removal with advance rigging techniques.
    You Must Have..

    YOU MUST HAVE:

    §  A minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a Groundsman position

    §  Able to use all related forestry hand tools

    §  Skilled in executing a traffic control plan

    §  Experienced and knowledgeable of approved company safety procedures

    §  Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner

    §  Effective communication skills – must be able to carry out verbal instructions, read labels and signs, complete daily reports to office and/or customers

    §  Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks

    §  Able to work year round outside in various weather conditions

    §   DZ Driver’s License
